Great NW Drivers has vehicles equipped with Hand Controls for Accellerator and Brake operation. Acceleration is accomplished by pushing the lever down while braking is a matter of pushing forward on the lever. Combining the control bar with a "Spinner Knob" on the steering wheel makes operating the vehicle no more compicated than with the pedals.
Another option in adaptive equipment training is the use of a Left Side Accellerator pedal. Some of our clients have varying defecits of movement concentrated on one side of their body, such as from a stroke. When movement is restricted on the right side of the body, working with a left side accellerator may be a viable alternative to hand controls.
